"Before I started class with ComputerTraining.com, I had very limited experience with computers. I knew my way around Windows XP enough to do most home consumer tasks, email, surf the web and play games. My enjoyment of playing games and working with spread sheets led me to thinking about a career in working with computers. As time went on and my son got older, we started building our own computers to make them faster and with better graphics.
I had a very good job in the construction field and was making pretty good money. I just didn’t like what I was doing. I had spent the last twenty three years doing a job that I didn’t like. I was just a way to pay the bills.
The opportunity that ComputerTraining.com gave was just what I was looking for. Their program would give me the chance to achieve Microsoft certifications with six months, as opposed to the eighteen to twenty four months that some of the local colleges had to offer. Since I was changing careers, I knew that I needed to be able to move as quickly as possible. And since ComputerTraining.com also offered placement assistance it was the perfect fit for me.
As the time for my class drew near, I started to become nervous about my decisions to take the class. My work associates were not supportive and I would hear things like, “You’re too old to start a new career,” or, “You’ll be back.” Every time I would hear these comments, I would tell myself that I can do anything that I put my mind to. The fact that I love a good challenge is another thing that I had going for me. I was determined to succeed in my new career and I wasn’t going to let anyone discourage me from trying.
As the classes progressed, I found that there was a lot of material to go over and I would have to stay focused to keep up with the course. There were times when I questioned whether or not I would be able to keep up. Each time I felt that fear, I would tell myself that it is only six months and I can make whatever changes to my schedule that were needed to allow me to be successful in my studies. After I achieved my first certification, I knew that I could do this and would not stop until I reached my goals. As the classes continued on, I found that I was really starting to understand some of the things that had initially confused me. I found that the more I worked with the labs, the more I gained a solid understanding of the concepts being taught.
Towards the end off my classes, I was approached about doing an internship for ComputerTraining.com, to help set up for classes and work with students that needed help during labs. This really confirmed that I had learned a lot of the material in the previous six months and now I, was able to help other people understand the material as well.
One of the main benefits of going with CornputerTraining.com was the fact that they offer placement assistance. Since I had spent the previous twenty-three years in construction, I had no experience with writing resumes or with professional interviews. I found the instruction they offered very beneficial. They helped me to create a resume that highlighted my past experience and current training. The mock interviews also helped me understand what to expect from a technical interview. So once ComputerTraining.com started to circulate my resume, I felt prepared for the interviews that followed.
I am currently working for a major company on a six month contract with a right to hire clause. I am very excited that the first steps of my new career are behind me now. I am looking forward to the next step up the ladder. My decision to attend class at ComputerTraining.com was the best decision I could have made to start my new career in the IT field. They were very supportive and very concerned about my success with the course and helped me find the correct job to get me started."
