Starting the course, I was nervous. Very nervous! It was a large financial obligation and I knew we would be covering a lot of material very quickly. We started right around January of 2006, and over the first few weeks we covered Windows XP. The course was moving pretty quickly and the instructors were covering tons of material each night. I kept up with my reading for every class and did all of my assignments. When extra material was recommended by my instructors, I made sure to go and read it. After we finished the Windows XP segment, I took my test the next day and passed! The feeling was exhilarating and I really started to believe I could master all this material. The workload just kept on getting heavier and heavier and the material more grueling. I was spending about 40 hours a week working, eight hours in class, eight hours studying, and an extra ten-plus hours studying for each individual certification. My instructors kept me motivated and I continued to push forward with my homework. They assured me there would be light at the end of the tunnel, and there was!

I earned my MCSE in June of 2006, just five months into the program, one month before graduating! I kept coming to class to learn as much as I could and help my fellow classmates while at the same time preparing for my job search and interviews. I had many interviews over the next few months all ending the same way, no job. I had my MCSE with little professional experience, and the sagging economy in Michigan wasn’t exactly helping. I was frustrated and devastated, all that work for seemingly nothing. Finally I landed a job at Geek Squad doing PC repair and small network support. The pay wasn’t great, but I was getting the experience that I needed and I met some great people. I kept my chin up and kept looking for a position. After a few months of Geek Squad I landed the job I dreamed of working for a small company in South Lyon, Michigan.

I now install Backup, Storage, and Security solutions for Medium to Enterprise class businesses all over the United States. My new employers have even further invested in my education. I now have my MCSE, IBM Tivoli Certification, Compellent SAN Certification, and will be completing my VMWare ESX 3.0 and Barracuda Certifications soon. I’m living in the fast lane and learning new things every single day. I’m learning everything from Linux/Unix, Solaris, AIX, OpenVMS, Oracle, SQL, and Exchange.

I love my new job and new life, and none of this would have been possible without the great instructors and staff at ComputerTraining.com.
